Australian Experts Warn of Infectious Disease Risk in H1N1 Vaccinations

    Nick Miller and Julia Medew
    The Age

    August 20, 2009

LEADING infectious disease experts have called on the Federal Government to abandon its mass swine-flu vaccination plan because of fears the vaccine is a contamination risk that could spread blood-borne diseases.

Health Minister Nicola Roxon yesterday announced that the Government would start deploying its first batch of swine-flu vaccine in coming weeks, with an aim to vaccinate as many people as possible to prevent further spread of the virus.

But in a letter sent to Commonwealth Chief Medical Officer Jim Bishop, the Australasian Society for Infectious Diseases expresses deep concern about CSL’s use of multi-dose vials for the vaccine and urged the Government to abandon its plan until it had single-dose vials.

Kids Get $40 Gift Cards in H1N1 Vaccine Test

    Val Willingham

    August 20, 2009

Andrew Stein, 10, and his brother, Nathan, 7, are having a typical end-of-summer vacation: hanging out at the pool, visiting their grandparents and waiting for the beginning of school.

But this week they’re doing something most of their classmates will never do. The Stein brothers will be testing the new vaccine to prevent swine flu.

Because the younger population, from 6 months to 24 years, is at high risk of developing complications from the H1N1 virus, the National Institutes of Health is conducting a clinical trial specifically to make sure the vaccine is safe for children. Vaccine developers hope to get the doses out by mid-October, before the flu season really shifts into high gear.

Social Networks Censoring Obama Joker Images

    Steve Watson
    Infowars.net
    Thursday, August 20, 2009

Infowars has received word that social networking website Myspace is removing the now iconic image of Obama as The Joker from users’ pages and photo albums, citing it as “offensive”.

Several people have contacted us to complain that Myspace is effectively censoring their political views by removing their images.

The following comment comes to us from Myspace user xthemonsterx:

I just attempted to post the Obama Fascism picture on myspace, as well as the image used in his campaign with the word hype instead of hope. I got sent back a message saying the pictures wouldn’t be posted because they were “offensive”.

Another Myspace user, Adam, sent us details of how myspace had deleted some of his Obama Joker images, but not others. Two of Adam’s Joker images that were deleted carried the overtly political messages “Don’t think, be quiet” and “Don’t drink tea, drink Kool Aid”.

Yet, according to Adam, the same image of Obama as The Joker, with the apolitical message “Quit clowning around!!!!!” was left untouched by Myspace.

Adam sent us the following screenshot of a message Myspace sent to his inbox explaining why his images had been pulled and threatening to completely delete his account:

More people have complained of the same clampdown on the images by the Rupert Murdoch owned company.

“its in your photo album thats getting jacked.” writes another Myspace user, ‘Eternal Vigilance’.

“For example, they keep changing my display pic from my ‘two jokers’ picture (Obama and Bush as the Joker) to my very 1st pic in my 1st photo album.”

‘Eternal Vigilance’ sent us a screen shot of the same message from Myspace Safety & Security:

Social Networks Censoring Obama Joker Images 200809joker censorship3

Another user with the moniker ‘HappySunshineRaysOfDeath’ sent us the following screenshot of the message he received from myspace when attempting to upload the Obama Joker image to his photo album:

Social Networks Censoring Obama Joker Images 200809joker censorship5

Judging by these messages it would seem that Myspace has deemed the “Jokerbama” image adorned with political messages to be in some way dangerous, grouping it in the same category as “nude/sexually explicit/violence” images.

At this time attempts to contact Myspace on this issue have gone unanswered.

The news comes in the wake of the revelation that the original source of the image was also censored.

The designer of the image, 20-year-old college student Firas Alkhateeb from Chicago, found that after his image was viewed over 20,000 times on Yahoo owned picture networking site Flickr, it was removed along with every comment posted under the image by Flickr users.

Flickr previously censored criticism of Obama when they deleted the entire account and photostream of user Shepherd Johnson owing to comments he posted on the official White House photostream. The comments were in no way offensive, were polite and well written, and merely criticised the president’s decision to withhold photographs of detainee prison abuse. The San Francisco Chronicle also picked up the story.

Flickr originally responded by implying that Johnson had been flagged by other Flickr users and had infringed their guidelines for “safe” viewing. Later the company also suggested that Johnson had been removed from the community for posting a photo of prisoner detainee abuse and “spamming” the website.

As we detailed in our report earlier this week, the revelation that the creator of the Jokerbama is a politically independent Muslim-American, and not a Republican white supremacist as the establishment left had hoped, puts the final nail in the coffin of the smear that the poster is in any way intended as racist.

This chilling of free speech and political parody emphasizes the importance of our continuing effort to bring awareness to the Jokerbama image through Alex Jones’ poster competition.

Has Myspace or any other social network site removed your Jokerbama images? If so please email all the details to admin@infowars.net.

Mother Arrested for Blogging About Police

    The Washington Post
    August 19, 2009

A 34-YEAR-OLD woman, the mother of a 12-year-old girl, has been locked up in a Virginia jail for three weeks and could remain there for at least another month. Her crime? Blogging about the police.

Elisha Strom, who appears unable to make the $750 bail, was arrested outside Charlottesville on July 16 when police raided her house, confiscating notebooks, computers and camera equipment. Although the Charlottesville police chief, Timothy J. Longo Sr., had previously written to Ms. Strom warning her that her blog posts were interfering with the work of a local drug enforcement task force, she was not charged with obstruction of justice or any similar offense. Rather, she was indicted on a single count of identifying a police officer with intent to harass, a felony under state law.

It’s fair to say that Ms. Strom was unusually focused on the Jefferson Area Drug Enforcement task force, a 14-year-old unit drawn mainly from the police departments of Charlottesville, Albemarle County and the University of Virginia. (Her blog at http://iheartejade.blogspot.com, expresses the view that the task force is “nothing more than a group of arrogant thugs.”) In a nearly year-long barrage of blog posts, she published snapshots she took in public of many or most of the task force’s officers; detailed their comings and goings by following them in her car; mused about their habits and looks; hinted that she may have had a personal relationship with one of them; and, in one instance, reported that she had tipped off a local newspaper about their movements.

Grassley: FCC Diversity Chief May Stifle Talk Radio

    Rick Pedraza
    Newsmax
    August 19, 2009

Editor’s note: Infowars covered Grassley’s concerns about the FCC and the Fairness Doctrine on August 17. See The Fairness Doctrine is Dead, Long Live the Fairness Doctrine.

Sen. Charles Grassley is worried that Obama administration’s new federal communications “diversity” director may try to regulate talk radio with a “backdoor” method akin to the Fairness Doctrine.

The Iowa Republican expressed his concerns because of a paper in which Mark Lloyd, the diversity director, alleged a “structural imbalance” in political talk radio and suggested increasing government involvement to regulate it. Lloyd co-authored the paper for the liberal Center for American Progress.

Grassley sent a letter Friday to FCC Chairman Julius Genachowski voicing strong disagreement with the idea that government needs to regulate talk radio and arguing that a return to the Fairness Doctrine would end the diversity of views on the airwaves.

FBI Says Boston Cops Need M-16s to Prevent City from Becoming Next Mumbai

    Kurt Nimmo

    • efoods

I kid you not. This is the reasoning used by the FBI. The cops need automatic weapons to respond if the city falls victim to a Mumbai-like terror attack. It’s more likely Boston will get hit by a hurricane, but you don’t see the government building levees and boarding up windows. A terror attack launched against Boston figures pretty low on the probability chart.

“Warren Bamford, the special agent in charge of the FBI in Boston, said Tuesday that he is baffled by opposition to a proposal to give some neighborhood police officers the semiautomatic weapons,” reports the Associated Press. “In May, Boston Mayor Tom Menino criticized a proposal to arm up to 200 officers with M-16s that the police department had ordered from the U.S. military. Menino said only specially trained units should have the guns.”

Menino, after all, has to face the wrath of citizens who will naturally resent the cops walking around as if Boston is Baghdad.

The FBI is merely playing its assigned role. From the Pentagon to the Department of Homeland Security to the FBI, the government is on the fast track to turn the country into a police state from sea to shining sea. A major part of that effort is the militarization of the police, a process already well along.

Let’s hand it to Boston Mayor Tom Menino — he didn’t buy into the FBI’s malarkey about a terrorist event that will probably never happen.

Greenpeace Leader Admits Organization Put Out Fake Global Warming Data

    Paul Joseph Watson
    Prison Planet.com
    Thursday, August 20, 2009

Greenpeace leader Gerd Leipold has been forced to admit that his organization issued misleading and exaggerated information when it claimed that Arctic ice would disappear completely by 2030, in a crushing blow for the man-made global warming movement.

In an interview with the BBC’s Stephen Sackur on the “Hardtalk” program, Leipold initially attempted to evade the question but was ultimately forced to admit that Greenpeace had made a “mistake” when it said Arctic ice would disappear completely in 20 years.

The claim stems from a July 15 Greenpeace press release entitled “Urgent Action Needed As Arctic Ice Melts,” in which it is stated that global warming will lead to an ice-free Arctic by 2030.

Sackur accused Leipold and Greenpeace of releasing “misleading information” based on “exaggeration and alarmism,” pointing out that it was “preposterous” to claim that the Greenland ice sheet, a mass of 1.6 million square kilometers with a thickness of 3 km in the middle that has survived much warmer periods in history, would completely melt when it had stood firm for hundreds of thousands of years.

“There is no way that ice sheet is going to disappear,” said Sackur.

“I don’t think it will be melting by 2030. … That may have been a mistake,” Leipold was eventually forced to admit.

However, Leipold made no apologies for Greenpeace’s tactic of “emotionalizing issues” as a means of trying to get the public to accept its stance on global warming.

He also argued that economic growth in the United States and around the world should be suppressed and that overpopulation and high standards of living should be combated because of the perceived damage they were doing to the environment, eugenicist rhetoric which will be familiar to our readers and anyone who has watched Alex Jones’ Endgame documentary.

As the Watts Up With That blog highlights, “Leipold’s admission that Greenpeace issued misleading information is a major embarrassment to the organization, which often has been accused of alarmism but has always insisted that it applies full scientific rigor in its global-warming pronouncements.”

Similar claims that the north pole will be “ice free” crop up almost every summer yet are routinely disproved.

Indeed, it was discovered that during August 2007 to August 2008, Arctic ice had in fact grown by around 30 per cent, an area equivalent to the size of Germany.

A new peer reviewed study has also discovered, “Total annual precipitation in Greenland ice sheet for 1958-2007 to be up to 24% and surface mass balance up to 63% higher than previously thought.”

As we reported last year, climate scientists allied with the UN IPCC were also caught citing fake data to make the case that global warming is accelerating, in another shocking example of mass public deception.

In November 2008, NASA’s Goddard Institute for Space Studies (GISS), run by Al Gore’s chief scientific ally, Dr James Hansen, announced that the previous month had been the hottest October on record. It later emerged that the data produced by NASA to make the claim, and in particular temperature records covering large areas of Russia, was merely carried over from the previous month. NASA had used temperature records from the naturally hotter month of September and claimed they represented temperature figures in October.

Watch a clip from the Sackur- Leipold interview below.

    Labor Day, socialist holiday, approaches!

    Jerry Mazza
    Infowars
    August 19, 2009

Oh my god, can it really be, a socialist holiday looking to dim our barbecues, to cast the shadow of wild-eyed bomb-throwers over our endless good times, the end of our endless summer and future? Well, perhaps it all has to do more with our real past!

As Wikipedia tells us, Labor Day is a United States federal holiday observed on the first Monday in September (on September 7 in 2009). The holiday originated in 1882 as the Central Labor Union of New York City sought to create “a day off for the working citizens.” Congress made Labor Day a federal holiday on June 28, 1894, [1] two months after the May Day Riots of 1894. May 4 was chosen to remember the Haymarket Affair. All 50 U.S. states have made Labor Day a state holiday. Traditionally, Labor Day is celebrated by most Americans as the symbolic end of the summer.

“The May Day Riots of May 1894,” if you must know, “were a series of violent demonstrations that occurred throughout Cleveland, Ohio on May 1, 1894. May Day, in many countries is synonymous with International Workers’ Day, or Labor Day, a day of political demonstrations and celebrations organised by the unions and socialist groups. Cleveland’s unemployment rate increased dramatically during the Panic of 1893. Finally, riots broke out among the unemployed who condemned city leaders for their ineffective relief measures.” So, Labor Day is not just about the symbolic end of the summer, do wah, do wah. It’s about the trials and tribulations of American Labor.

Labor Day was born in the heart of US Labor unrest, mostly in the heartland states, of Ohio and Illinois, far from the so-called liberal bastions of New York and Boston. This is just to remind you that the next time somebody uses “socialism” as a bad, anti-American word to describe Single-payer healthcare, they’re full of misinformation, not to mention some Blue Dog bile and Repuglican vileness. As I pointed out in Defining socialism and single-payer health care, these are very important pieces of American history to keep in mind.

Unfortunately, like the merry boozing that occurs on Labor Day in celebration of reasons everyone has forgotten in the larger narcolepsy of American History; the May Day Riots were not exactly a start-of-summer get together. Wiki describes them as “The Haymarket affair (also known as the Haymarket riot or Haymarket massacre) was a disturbance that took place on Tuesday May 4, 1886, at the Haymarket Square [4] in Chicago, and began as a rally in support of striking workers. An unknown person threw a bomb at police as they dispersed the public meeting. The bomb blast and ensuing gunfire resulted in the deaths of eight police officers and an unknown number of civilians. [5] [6] In the internationally publicized legal proceedings that followed, eight anarchists were tried for murder. Four were put to death, and one committed suicide in prison.

“The Haymarket affair is generally considered to have been an important influence on the origin of international May Day observances for workers. [7] [8] In popular literature, this event inspired the caricature of “a bomb-throwing anarchist.” The causes of the incident are still controversial, although deeply polarized attitudes separating business and working class people in late 19th century Chicago are generally acknowledged as having precipitated the tragedy and its aftermath. The site of the incident was designated as a Chicago Landmark on March 25, 1992. [9] The Haymarket Martyrs’ Monument in nearby Forest Park was listed on the National Register of Historic Places and as a National Historic Landmark on February 18, 1997. [3]

So, it wasn’t just a group of slavering “socialists” out there on May Day or on Labor’s Celebratory Day, the highlight of one of summer’s biggest holidays. It was about Labor fighting for its rights, to decent wages, fair treatment, decent working conditions and not being treated as so many felons by the Chicago or Cleveland aristocracy and their bought politicos and cops. It was about bloody fighting over the rights of working people against the rich. Am I preaching “class conflict?” My dears I don’t have to preach “class conflict.” To this day, we as Americans live with its worst effects every day.

Those include those outsourcing of millions of American jobs by multi-national corporations who would care less about the American workers and consumers who built and fed their companies growth, like GM or Chrysler or Ford. In fact, Chairman Henry Ford the 1st laid down his cardinal rule, “I want to build cars that people working on my assembly line can afford.” He must be rolling over in his grave now at what one of his or any of Detroit’s fleet cost the working man. But the offenses against labor are far more egregious than that. Labor is blamed for adding thousands of dollars to each car because the corporations have had to pay for health care and even, my god, retirement pensions.

Those families that worked for generations for the big three, donating their sweat and blood during the good times, building an incredible war machine to fight the Nazis on the turn of a dime in the 40’s, aided and abetted by all the Rosy the Riveters of the US, who supplanted their husbands gone off to war, some to return, some not, some practically unrecognizably. Those are people who have been forgotten by the numbers boys, and I use the term “boys” decidedly. They are the starch-shirted, flashy-tie white collar boys, what with their computers, spread sheets, who know the price of everything and the value of nothing, especially not of American Labor.

    • A d v e r t i s e m e n t
    • efoods

They would like to re-enslave labor, push it back to the 18th century, to the wage-earning levels of the slave-labor nations of the world. That is their free market’s goal, make no mistake about it. And so not only do they heckle about the cost of labor care, which is not what makes them uncompetitive but the lack of understanding what the basic consumer wants in a car, mileage, durability, green technology. Instead they will throw out one fantasy car after another into the market place, from Hummers to Escalades, looking for the fat fast buck. And they get back a pie in the face, as the Japanese, Koreans, even Europeans get another share of their dwindling market.

And not only have these same geniuses taken down the American auto industry, but the cities in which they were built with from Flint to Detroit to Tarrytown, New York, onwards. Nor is it just the auto industry. More and more, we have allowed these multi-national corporations to toss aside American labor and its products, for slave labor products. We have allowed our manufacturing infrastructure to be raped and pillaged by Wall Street’s bottom line boys, who neither know nor care about its necessity. They are too young to remember the sacrifices, the bloodshed and the fights for workers’ rights. They think Labor Day is celebrated for being the last day or summer.

Well, if we let it pass just one more time without reversing these effects, without providing American with a single-Payer health insurance plan, we will once more squander the “double the money-per-capita” that we spend for the very worst healthcare among the emerging countries. Fortunately, the greed and avarice of those countries don’t extend into the very heart of their existence. They maintain the wellness of their citizens, their workers, the flesh and blood of their fellow men. These Wall Street boys, snot-noses with million dollar bonuses and more coming, don’t know tough times, or shit from a hole in the wall for that matter. And there is a huge hole in our treasury, a vortex through which billions, trillions of our dollars, out resources have been recently siphoned to build another market bubble in order to declare the “recession over.” Well, it ain’t over, darlings. Nor will it be till we set things straight.

That would include eliminating the FED, which for all practical purposes operates on its own, spending, printing our taxpayer money to finance this bubble, just to make their sorry asses look good. Bernanke is the pits. Geithner is the pits. Larry Summers is the pits. Obama is in wonderland, lacking a clue. In fact, maybe we need to remind these boys what exactly Americans think of them, and their Wall Street, their casino market, their derivatives, their subprime paper, their continuing issuance of outrageous bonuses, their bought Congress. Let’s tell them emphatically to keep their hands off of Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, Veterans Benefits, all single-Payer insurance plans. And mainly to keep for-profit insurance companies’ hands off of our American healthcare or else. Go insure some more Silverstein terrorists.

The “or else” would be to face those same kinds of spontaneous riots that wracked the Mid-West of industrial America in the 19th century, only on a much larger scale, adjusted for population. They just kind of happened when people realized they were being screwed over. They can and should just happen again to sound a wake-up call to the five and ten and twenty percenters currently running our country today. I would suggest you all do a little bit of educating. Tell your kids what Labor Day is all about, and why it’s called Labor Day. Tell them there’s no such disgusting thing as Corporate Day, or Multi-National Day, or Blood-Sucking Bottom-Liners’ Day, because we have those everyday and have come to abhor them.

And when it comes to fireworks time, tell the kids the fireworks go back to the revolution, and are symbolic of our forefathers battling elitist King George’s fleets in our harbors, trying to impose a way of life that just didn’t sit right with us. Today the elites call it A New World Order. Back then it was the good old freewheeling, take-what-you-want British Empire. Well, we don’t want it again, so take it back, whoever you are, 2009’s elites, because we are not going to take it any more.

Now, you may say to this, that so many jobs have been lost, and people are so down, they don’t have the heart or stomach for rioting like our forefathers did, or rejecting that band of brigands called Congress or a political system that can’t deliver anything but the same old crap. And I would add that political power, as you know, does not come out of a mouth blowing wind. Fighting back worked in the 19th century. It will work in the 21st to bring a more equitable distribution of wealth for the working and middle classes. As my college motto stated, “Nile Sine Magno Labore, translated “Nothing without great labor,” which includes a country.
